Headlines:Jet2holidays and easyJet Holidays Take a Stand for Animal Welfare
April 2, 2024 – In a significant move towards promoting animal welfare, two major holiday companies, Jet2holidays and easyJet holidays, have announced changes to their policies regarding the sale of tickets to venues featuring cetaceans for entertainment.
Jet2holidays confirmed on March 26, 2024, that it will no longer sell tickets to such venues, effective from March 27, 2024. However, they have stated that all existing bookings will be honoured. This decision has been praised by various stakeholders, including animal welfare groups.
Earlier in the same month, easyJet holidays also confirmed that it would stop selling tickets to zoos and marine parks as part of its new animal welfare policy. This policy aims to not offer harmful animal-based attractions with its tours and activities.
These policy changes are seen as significant steps towards promoting animal welfare and are the result of continuous scrutiny and feedback from various stakeholders. They reflect a growing awareness and concern about the welfare of captive cetaceans used for entertainment.
