Hominidae is a taxonomic family of primates that includes eight extant species in four genera:

  • Pongo (the Bornean, Sumatran and Tapanuli orangutan);
  • Gorilla (the eastern and western gorilla);
  • Pan (the chimpanzee and the bonobo);
  • Homo, of which only modern humans (Homo sapiens) remain.
