T109A3
T109A3, also known as Spong, was a 14-year-old female West Coast transient killer whale born in 2009.[1] T109A3 was found stranded off Canada’s west coast in March 2024 and died despite efforts to rescue her.[2] She was pregnant as the time of her death. T109A3 also had a calf with her, T109A3A, who was born in 2022. The mother and calf entered the lagoon, which extends south of the village of Zeballos on the island’s northwest coast, on Saturday, 23rd March 2024.
