OrcaLab is a research organization that has been studying the Northern Resident Orcas and other cetaceans of Northeast Vancouver Island for over 50 years. Their work is based on the philosophy of “Do No Harm” and they use a network of remote, land-based hydrophones and cameras to monitor the orcas’ movements all year round. They also have a live audio feed and live video streaming that allows you to watch orcas socialize at the rubbing beaches and the many humpbacks and Stellar sea lions around the lab.
