The Hong Kong Cetacean Research Project is a long-term monitoring research program focused on the Chinese white dolphins (Sousa chinensis) and Indo-Pacific finless porpoises (Neophocaena phocaenoides) in Hong Kong waters. The project aims to study and understand the population status, distribution, behaviour, and threats faced by these cetacean species.

The project aims to study the acoustic niche and essential marine soundscape of coastal cetaceans, as well as characterize the parasitic and bacterial microbiota of resident cetacean species in Hong Kong.

The research project collaborates with organizations like the Hong Kong Dolphin Conservation Society and Texas A&M University.
