Algonquin - orca
On December 18, 1999, a female orca named Nootka V gave birth to her fifth calf at Marineland Ontario. The calf was a male, and he was sired by Kandu VII. He later came to be known as Algonquin. His birth took place in the newly built tank complex called Friendship Cove. At the time of his birth, Algonquin's half-brother, Hudson, who was just one year older, formed a bond with him.
Algonquin had a curious and friendly nature, which made him less inclined to perform for audiences.
Tragically, on August 13, 2002, Algonquin was found lifeless at the bottom of the tank. The cause of his death was determined to be a twisted intestine.
