Koalas are marsupials native to Australia and are known for their cuddly appearance and eucalyptus leaf diet. However, koalas are facing several threats, including habitat loss, disease, and climate change.

The koala is an endangered species in Queensland, New South Wales and the ACT.[1]

It is estimated that there are less than 100,000 koalas remaining in their natural habitat, with the possibility of the number being as low as 43,000.[2]
