Born Free Foundation
The Born Free Foundation is a global wildlife conservation charity that was founded in 1984 by actress and wildlife campaigner Virginia McKenna, along with her husband Bill Travers and their son Will Travers. The foundation is headquartered in Horsham, West Sussex, United Kingdom, but operates in many countries across the world.
The main focus of the Born Free Foundation is to protect wild animals from suffering, abuse, and exploitation. They work to end the keeping of wild animals in captivity, the trade in wild animals and their products, and the hunting and poaching of endangered species. The foundation also works to conserve and protect natural habitats and to raise public awareness about the issues facing wild animals.
One of the foundation's most significant achievements was the creation of the Born Free Foundation's Big Cat Rescue Centre in South Africa. The centre provides a safe and natural environment for big cats that were previously kept in captivity or in poor living conditions. The centre also educates the public about the importance of wildlife conservation and the need to protect big cats.[1]
