Wally, also referred to as “Whale”, was a young female orca that was discovered stranded in Port Madison on August 8, 1970
On August 8, 1970, a young female orca was discovered stranded in Port Madison. This incident coincided with the infamous captures that took place in Penn Cove, though it is unclear if there is any direct connection between the two events.
Wally became the first orca to be held in captivity in Germany at Munchen Aquarium.
On October 4, 1971, Wally died as a result of heart failure.
