The tiger (Panthera tigris) is the largest cat species belonging to the Panthera genus, tigers are part of the Felidae family and are easily recognizable by their distinctive orange coat with black stripes. Tigers are powerful creatures, with adult males reaching lengths of up to 11 feet (3.3 meters) from head to tail and weighing between 400 to 600 pounds (180 to 270 kilograms).
