History

In April 1968, several Orcas were captured in Pender Harbor. Corky and a male, named Orky II, were soon purchased by Marineland of the Pacific and immediately transferred. It is assumed both new Orcas met Orky, the resident whale at the park, soon after their arrival.

After Orky’s death, Corky and Orky II became the main attractions at the park. By the end of 1969, Marineland purchased 3 new Orcas. The whales seemed to get along well, but were separated at times due to the small size of their tank.

In December 1970, Corky died from a mediastinal abscess.
