What is Newshound?

Newshound is an Really Simple Syndication (RSS) retrieval platform that aggregates animal related content from various sources using RSS feeds. You can then access Newshound in a centralized location to view and stay updated on news and articles from different websites. Newshound algorithms attempt to ensure that you receive timely updates while trying to avoid overwhelming you with irrelevant information.

Newshound Mission

At Project Newshound, we're passionate about delivering the latest and most relevant animal news straight to you. Our mission is to provide a one-stop solution for animal enthusiasts, researchers, and anyone curious about the diverse world of animals. Whether it's heartwarming stories, scientific breakthroughs, or conservation updates, we fetch the latest news so you can stay informed and connected to the animal kingdom.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

At Newshound, we are committed to delivering accurate and reliable animal news to you. However, we understand that no system is perfect, and occasionally, we may retrieve non-animal-related news. We want to be transparent about this aspect of our service and assure you that we are constantly working to improve our algorithms to minimize such occurrences. There may be cases where eliminating some retrieval errors completely is impossible because of the nature of websites adding dynamically changing related stories to their pages.

How We're Improving

Our team is dedicated to refining Newshound to ensure that the news you receive is consistently animal-focused. We utilize a combination of advanced algorithms and manual oversight to curate content. When mistakes happen, we appreciate your understanding and encourage you to provide feedback. Your input helps us fine-tune our systems and enhance the overall accuracy of Newshound. If you come across non-animal-related news or have any concerns about the accuracy of the content we retrieve, please don't hesitate to add to the projects discussion page. Your feedback is invaluable, and we are committed to addressing any issues promptly. Newshound Beta is a dynamic platform where improvements are underway:

  • Ongoing Improvements: Our team is hard at work refining Newshound to ensure a seamless and enriching experience. Your feedback during this beta phase is incredibly valuable in shaping the future of the platform.
  • New Feeds in the Works: We're actively working on introducing new animal and topic feeds to provide a broader spectrum of content. Your interests and preferences are guiding us in this process.

Feed Sources

Most feeds are generated by Google searches but some are direct from an organization's website. The availability of these direct feeds is contingent upon the presence of an RSS feed on the respective organization's website.
