On August 8, 1970, a young female orca was discovered stranded in Port Madison. Interestingly, this incident coincided with the infamous captures that took place in Penn Cove, though it is unclear if there is any direct connection between the two events.

This young female orca, known as Wally or sometimes referred to as "Whale," became the first orca to be held in captivity in Germany.

On October 4, 1971, Wally passed away as a result of heart failure.
