The Social Media Animal Cruelty Coalition (SMACC) is a group formed by members of the Asia for Animals Coalition in May 2020. The aim of SMACC is to bring organizations together to understand, address and end the proliferation of animal cruelty content available on social media platforms. The Asia for Animals (AfA) Coalition is a network of hundreds of global animal welfare organizations, founded in 2001. It is the largest of its kind in the world. AfA acts as a united voice for its members, appealing to governments and specific facilities to oppose animal cruelty across Asia. The coalition also facilitates issue-specific working groups and events to capitalize on the expertise of its network to solve issues facing Asia’s animals. AfA is composed of 24 well-known and well-respected animal welfare organizations with a shared vision and goal of improving the welfare of animals in Asia.
