History
In August 1971, a group of 3 orcas were captured off Penn Cove; two females and one male. One female, later known as Kona, was soon bought by SeaWorld San Diego.
It was not long until she was trained for and performing in shows including waterworks with trainers; even having spent one season performing at the now defunct SeaWorld Aurora in Ohio.
On September 28, 1977, Kona died due to Septicemia, otherwise known as blood poisoning.
