On July 19, 2012, the captive born female Lovey gave birth to her second calf at Kamogawa Sea World; a female named Luna sired by the Icelandic male Oscar.
Lovey is a good mother to Luna, and the pair are often spotted swimming together. Luna sometimes spends time with her aunt Lara as well.
After Luna’s birth, Lovey began raking and acting unusually aggressive towards her son, Earth, who was born in 2008. This resulted in Earth having to be moved into the back pool with Oscar, who was also his father. The pair spent the majority of their time together until Oscar’s death 5 months after Luna’s birth.
In December 2015, Earth was moved to the Port of Nagoya Aquarium, in exchange for Ran II’s Move to Kamogawa Sea World. This move was apparently done in an effort to “stabilize breeding” between the facilities.
