Pignorant
Pignorant

Pignorant is a 2024 documentary film by Joey Carbstrong that highlights the use of carbon dioxide () as a method to stun pigs prior to slaughter. The film includes undercover footage from the Pilgrim’s Pride abattoir in Ashton-under-Lyne in north-west England taken in February 2021.

The footage shows pigs being herded into metal gondolas in groups, lowered into a chamber and subjected to a high concentration of carbon dioxide gas. Pigs are seen shrieking, gasping, and writhing in apparent pain and distress.[1]

The film was released in the United Kingdom on February 10, 2024. It has a runtime of 1 hour and 42 minutes.[2]
